SOUR CREAM POUND CAKE

Ingredients

  • 3 cups plain flour
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 2 2/3 cup sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 8-ounce carton sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

This is one of those recipes that every southern cook has on hand. We always top with fresh strawberries that have been marinating in a little sweetened condensed milk. Top it with whipped cream and you have the perfect Strawberry Shortcake.

Instructions

FIRST Preheat oven 300°F. Sift flour and baking soda in a medium bowl and set aside. Using a stand mixer, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.

NEXT With mixer on slow, add flour in 3-4 batches. Mix in sour cream and vanilla until batter is smooth.

LAST Bake for 1 hour and do not open oven. Increase temperature to 325°F and continue baking for 15 minutes, remove from oven and cool.
